H&M SS12

I love getting the H&M catalogue in the post, not only because it gives me something to read but also because it gives a great sneak peek into the next season's trends. I'm one of those people that once we're in full swing of a season, i love it but i find it hard to transition. I get so used to dressing for Summer, or Winter, that when we move to the next season i find it hard to know how to dress; but i'm learning. I can't believe the catalogues, online and on the High Street are already offering a vast range of Spring clothing, it feels like yesterday i only started wearing jumpers (however, Southampton has been extremely mild and is only now just getting chilly!) So, it was a great opportunity to have a peek at what Spring has in store, this season.

H&M is a great store for your basics, but every season it brings out a fab collection of must have items that can stand alone of be worked into your wardrobe, at the drop of a hat. It was nice to see two trends that have been worn time, and time, again but have been reworked for Spring 2012. The above being brights: neons, bold, fluro colours that will stand you out from the crowd. It may seem a little daunting adding bubblegum, or berry, pink to your wardrobe, or trying on something highlighter yellow but, honestly, if you have the confidence and ability to wear them this season, why not be bold and give it a go. Just because one item; be it a dress, some shoes or some jeans, in your outfit is brightly coloured, doesn't mean everything else has to be too. Wearing a pop of colour is a trend in itself, so why not try pairing this brightly coloured, striped dress with a classic black blazer some black pumps and some opaque tights (until the weather gets a little warmer)? You'll be wearing the trend, but in your own way, and if a dress is a little too out there for you, why not simply start with some green shoes or an orange bag? There really is something for everyone in this trend!

We all know, and love, the nautical trend and it's back again for another season, this time keeping with the classic blue tones and stripes, but maybe a little more sophisticated than your average stripy knit. Why not try something to the classic jeans, this season, and give a tailored trouser a go? These gorgeous blue ankle grazer trousers are a fabulous alternative to jeans, and go with just as much as denim; you can pair these with everything from jumper to blouses, to t-shirts to bikini tops on holiday, they really do go with everything. This beautiful, basic dress is H&M at it's best; they're brilliant at producing, classic, comfortable basics to take you from year to year. Despite it being a basic jersey dress, the unusual red and blue vertical stripe, and the subtle cowl neck keep it a little different to your usual jersey. Nautical is so easy to accessorise, as there are huge varieties of blue shoes, bags and goodness knows what else. A big, bug-eyed sunglass is just what you need to keep the rays off your face, for many seasons to come, so why not try them in a classic tortoise-shell to wear your inner starlet.

What's your favourite Spring trend?
