(Sporadic) Friday Feeling #14

Top: New Look / Cardigan: H&M

001. As this title may suggest, my posting has become pretty sporadic over the last couple of weeks! My outfit posts have gone totally down the drain and my time is so limited, as i've been busying myself with this, that and the other!

002. For starters, i have FINALLY got my laptop back after a week of moaning and calling, it's finally home - safe & sound. I'm a little disappointed with Apple, as they said it would be returned to me in 3 - 5 days, and today it has been a week. After calling up numerous times to check up on what was happening, i was informed that they had been waiting for a 'part', suggesting to me that obviously something needed to be fixed, however when going into the shop today the "genius" informed me that nothing had been changed and basically they couldn't find any problems. Where did this so called 'part' come into it!? Slightly dubious about the whole thing, but i suppose i've got it back now and can get on with my slacking work load.

003. My lovely Mr is also returning to Southampton tomorrow, so i will be back to to complaining about my work load, my boredom and my missing of said Mr! However, it'll be good for both of us in this busy time, exams for him & FMP home straight for me. I'll miss having him around but we'll be venturing down to Dorset in 4 short weeks for a weekend away, so i'm sure it'll seem like he never left!

004. SO. The topic on everybody's lips: The Royal Wedding! & More importantly, THOSE dresses (1,2)! What did you all think!? I just felt ever so emotional throughout the whole thing, and i never thought i would be. I just personally think that Kate & Wills are such a lovely couple, they looked so young, happy and in love - some true british romance! I think that the wedding was exactly what this country needed, nothing like a wedding to bring us all together! I thought that Kate looked absolutely gorgeous, and together they looked immaculate. Sarah Burton completely outdid herself and she has permanently put herself on the fashion map. Both dresses suited Kate totally, and the style was just impeccable! Perfect! How did all of you spend your days? I spent mine just lounging watching the wedding coverage, spending time with my Mr & his wonderful family, ever so lovely, and at least the weather held out!

005. Now, i would love to say that from here on out i'll be updating you regularly, but as all you students know we are now entering exam month, and for me FMP month, so things are going to become a little crazy! I'll be using blogging as a form of escape, so will hopefully be updating here there & everywhere.

006. I am very sad about my lovely Mr leaving for Uni tomorrow, but i know that it won't be long before i'll have him for 4 long months and won't be able to get rid of him! However, by that point i'll be moving back with him! So, to all you long distancers entering the next dreaded month together, all the luck in the world & hang on in there!

Sunshine and Smiles (& Chocolate!)

So, my things didn't work out how i was hoping for. on my Friday Feeling this week! I was all for outfit posts & pictures, however, things didn't quite go to plan! On Saturday morning i was getting up ready for the day ahead, planning to wear my new shorts (from Tesco!) ready to show you! But the Mr was getting up to, and he had different ideas, well rather his sinuses did, he began to have a pretty intense nose bleed that actually took over our entire day! It wasn't very nice to watch, but i braved my squeamish tendancies to be a good girlfriend! Luckily, we did make into Cambridge (on a scorching hot day!) but he looked awful all day, which made me feel very guilty as it was my fault we were there; which brings me on to my even sadder news: they've taken my Mac!

Sadly, it's been giving me jipp, turning on and waking from sleep, for the past couple of weeks so i took it to the geniuses at Apple and they have taken it for testing. It was a very sad moment, i feel like i'm missing my child! What's even worse, is that my essay is on that machine.. and it's in for Wednesday! Woops.

SO. Things haven't quite worked out how i would have liked, and i have no outfits to show you - which is unfortunate, as i dressed well this weekend - but i do have some photos to share with you of my weekend, mostly of Ely train station as i got to have a good look at the detail when our train to Cambridge was cancelled.

With a cheeky Brothers Strawberry Cider to end!

As i was asking your opinion on Models Own, in my last post, i decided to go through my polishes and have a go with some i haven't used in some time. I settled on Revlon's 'Revlon Red', i had never used Revlon before my mum raved about it, so i purchased some for myself and was amazed. The intense colour, the speedy drying and the fact you can put only one layer on and it looks like you're wearing three! Red is such a special colour and this Revlon one is amazing, i highly recommend it.

At it's £6. something price tag, it's a little pricier than my usual under a fiver Rimmels but it's totally worth the extra bucks.

I have also increased my Revlon Collection, adding 'Cherries in the Snow' (Pink) & 'Midnight Affair' (Shimmering Blue) - just as beautiful as my original red, i'm excited to try out some other colours!

I hope you've all soaked up the sun, this beautiful bank holiday weekend! xo

Friday Feeling #13

001. As i revealed yesterday, i spent my day scavenging in a local landmark - The Cath Kidston Factory Shop, St. Neots. A place where all ex-display and slightly faulty products go, sort of like a Seven Seas of Rhye but for beautiful florals and stripes. Most of the products were perfectly acceptable, the only ones that had zip pullers missing or a little colour run were clearly marked. Me & the mother went a little Cath Kidston mad but it was totally worth it and i picked up some lovely bits & bobs!

Make Up Case / Tea Cup & Saucer / Plimsoles / Purse / Ticket Holder

I also picked up the cutest little strawberry print bib & pink floral apron for little Molly!

002. So we're supposedly in for a scorching Easter weekend, and it's definitely welcomed after such a harsh winter, i say! I'll be spending my weekend relaxing in the beautiful sunshine, mooching around the shops, having some laughs with some lovely people & desperately trying to patch up my essay!

003. As you saw in this post, i got some gorgeous red shorts for my birthday and i've been dying to buy some red jeans/trousers for as long as i can remember and i have finally found the perfect pair from H&M! They are winging their way into my letterbox as we speak, but i'm a little unsure of what to wear on top (other than just a black top) - any advice, links and such are very much welcomed!

004. I have never been a huge fan of Zara, but lately they have really been coming into my radar!

Some seriously gorgeous colour, and also some beautiful tailoring! Go Zara!

005. Models Own. I have always known about this polish, but it has always been a little out of my price range. As i've been getting myself round the blogasphere, you ladies seem to rave about it so i'm just wondering if it's really worth spending my pennies on, anyone have anything brilliant or awful to say about said polish?

What are you all going to do with your lovely, sunny Easter weekend? I hope you all take full advantage of this beautiful weather, you can guarantee it won't last long! xo

The Heat (Of Summer Sunshine)

So, i've spent the majority of this week playing with the cutest baby alive, relaxing with the Mr, laughing & planning with friends or out with the Mother. Little FMP work has happened, except for getting bookwork up-to-date and attempting my essay (which is still looking a little dilapidated). I have got a lot done, but the next month is going to full on - which i'm kinda looking forward to - but i'm also very excited for a super long summer.

Since we've been having such beautiful weather, i spent the beginning of the week at the Mr's and spent some time with his beautiful year old niece, writing an essay in the sunshine, baking and general relaxing. It's all gone by so quickly, i've been really lacking in outfit posts, but here are some snippets from my outfit for essay writing in the garden:

Top: Primark / Necklace: Claire's Accessories / Shorts: New Look / Cardigan: H&M / Sunglasses: Vintage

This gorgeous mustard yellow top has done me so proud since i bought it a couple of weeks ago! I've dressed it up, down, with leggings and shorts & skirts - it's literally been a life saver! Gorgeous colour, dipped hem and super floaty. As have the shorts, actually! They're super comfy and have a lovely vintage look to them, they're also such a nice denim which is often hard to find in denim shorts. The cardigan was a London Oxford Street purchase, and it's my new favourite wardrobe addition. The sleeve length is a little disappointing, as being a taller lady i tend have a little longer arms and the arms in said cardigan would be rather short for average height. However, with such beautiful weather it has been perfect for rolling the sleeve up. However, the colour and the print are super lovely!

My gorgeous summer day was spent with this view:

But when i got bored of struggling through my essay, i did this:

& decided to decorate the Mr's mac with it!

I hadn't made a daisy chain since choosing who would be your school wedding bridesmaid was the most important thing on your mind. It was nice to just sit in the sun and string some daisies together!

I've been having a lovely week, as i hope you have! Today i visited a local haven - St. Neots Cath Kidston Factory Shop. It was literally like dying and going to heaven! As already have an abundance of her beautiful bags, it was my sole mission to adorn the rest of my life with her beautiful print! They deserve a post of their own so i'll show you all my finds next time!

A (Totally Forgotten About) Friday Feeling #12

001. This Easter holidays has been totally hit and miss when it comes to the blogging front - i apologise!

002. Since last checking in, i have caught up with my (what feels like) hundreds of blog posts, from you lovely ladies - it seems like you're all keeping yourselves busy AND keeping your blog up-to-date, i salute you (i don't know how you do it!)
I have also had my hair dyed (again) - people say that getting tattoos are an addiction, well hair dye is mine! Rather than going purpley/red and brown, this time i have gone entirely aubergine. I keep meaning to take some photos, but once i tell you all about my busy day - i think you'll see why i haven't had time yet! The colour is a gorgeous, rich purple but seems to have a red shimmer, i think it suits my skin tone far more than the previous brown.

003. My beautiful spring day has been split between getting some work done on my ever looming Final Major Project, and looking after a little girl named Molly. I am currently spending some time at the Mr's house, and his sister, brother-in-law and gorgeous niece are visiting. For a little one just over a year old, she has tonnes of energy and is just beginning to walk/stand up. We walked up and down the living room, what feels like, a hundred times but she was having a ball and anything is worth seeing that cheeky little grin on her face. Mary, the Mr's sister, is helping their mum on a flute course this week so is off busying herself while i am left at home with Jonny, Tim (J's brother-in-law) and little Molly May. We spent the day playing, napping, eating and enjoying the beautiful sunshine.
We took a lovely walk through Ely, down to the river and home where i pushed Molly in her buggy - i'm sure i was being judged (but it didn't matter as i was pushing such a gorgeous little monkey!) - we had an absolute ball on the swings, and munched our (her) way through plenty of breadsticks! We stopped off at a lovely pub, by the river, called The Cutter - which i would definitely recommend if you're ever in the area - where i enjoyed a cool, icey, Malibu & coke - yummy! We had a leisurely strole home, munching on blue & pink bubblegum cola bottles, where i took some snaps to share with you of the beautiful Ely Cathedral:

Ely is clearly embracing the royal wedding with all this lovely bunting!

I hope you all enjoyed your sunny spring days and i'm ever so sorry i haven't kept you on it! I will try to update you as soon as i get a spare moment (at present, there are too many sticky little fingers that i can't afford to have all over my new macbook - i welcome the fun though!)

Happy Spring :)

14 April 2011

2 years (& 2 Days)

I'm alive, i promise i'm alive! This week has been totally non-stop - just the way i like it!

Last you heard i had been to the zoo, since then i have (finally) celebrated my birthday with my friends and also celebrated mine & the Mr's 2 year anniversary! I didn't get any photos from the night with my friends, we were all too busy chatting away, as i haven't seen some of them for far too long, but i had an extremely lovely evening with some even lovelier company. Bella Italia is one of my favourite restaurants, so it was great to be able to celebrate there with all my fab friends! (Can't believe some of them had never been before! If you haven't either: go now!) I had never been to the one we went to on monday, Bella Italia at the Watermill, but i would definitely go again. Cambridge is a beautiful place and to be surrounded by park and right next to the river was really lovely, especially on a summer evening.

So, me and the Mr have been dating for 2 years (and 2 days)! It's so bizarre - it feels like it's been a lot longer than 2 years, but it also doesn't feel like it's been very long at all! Without sounding too cheesy or like a total sucker, being with the Mr has been the best decision of my life. Over the past 2 years i have really become a totally different person, and not in 'he's changed me' way, in a 'he's made me a better person' kind of way.

We decided to celebrate by spending the day in London: we went to see the matinee of We Will Rock You and then went for dinner at a lovely little restaurant called Orso, but i'll get on to that later. Here are a couple snaps of our day:

Me & my wonderful Mr / The Mr! / Waiting to see WWRY at the Dominion Theatre / Dinner at Orso

I don't think i have yet introduced any of you lovely ladies to my Mr, so this is his blog debut! We had a really lovely day, it's nice to take some time out for ourselves to celebrate our landmark. We don't often get time for to ourselves and not have to worry about something, so we took the day and didn't worry whatsoever! Sadly in these photos you can't really see my dress, my shoes or my tights! I wore a lovely Navy Jersey Wrap Dress from ASOS, House Of Holland Suspender Tights & Leopard Strappy Shoes from Topshop shown in this Post. The amount of stares i got through the day for my tights! It was like no-one had seen anything like it before; people even stopped to stare!

After grooving, singing and boogieing on down at We Will Rock You, which by the way is truly fab! If you love a good Queen song, get on down there! I sang my little heart out and we even bust a move or two - and trust me when i say the cast can really belt out a tune! (However, if you have sensitive hearing - warning, that it can be pretty loud!) We made our way to the lovely Covent Garden for dinner at Orso. We had never heard of this little gem before we started searching for places to have our anniversary dinner - we merely stumbled across it, and we were very glad that we did! It was a little more expensive then we would normally like to spend, but as it was a special occasion we decided to splash out and do something fancy! The food was absolutely DELICIOUS; i went for the rosemary and garlic chicken, it was super, super yummy. We were both pretty full by the end so decided to share a dessert, deciding on the Blood Orange Cake which was incredibly light and fluffy! What really made this restaurant special was that it was underground, it literally was just a door on Wellington Street, if you didn't know where you were going you'd probably miss it! There were no windows, but the lighting was gorgeous - entirely lit by candles and sconces, rather than ceiling lights - very atmospheric lighting, very romantic too: lovely ambience. The service was so efficient, they never rushed you but we were out in super time! We went at a peak theatre dinner time, and they obviously wanted a quick turn over but not once did we feel rushed or pushed to leave, but they were super efficient bringing out the food and clearing our table so we weren't leaning in empty plates. The crockery was also non matching, the Mr had a round floral plate whereas i had a wiggly spotty one - i would highly, highly recommend this place! What really got me and the Mr smiling was that we were sharing a restaurant with none other than the lovely David Walliams, i even got a cheeky smile! It would have been very inappropriate to take even a sneaky photo so you'll just have to take my word for it!

For our anniversary date, i decided to go all out and wear a little more make up than i usually would. I thought it would be the perfect time to test out my new Rimmel make up:

Rimmel Quad Eye Shadow in 023 Beauty Spells & Rimmel Max Volume Flash Mascara

I have actually been using this mascara for the past couple of weeks, and although it's not as good as my failsafe Benefit Bad Gal, it'll do for it's extremely cheaper price tag. It's good at separating my lashes and not creating clumps, and also has great colour, texture and lengthens my lashes nicely. This Rimmel eyeshadow is also a lovely one, i rarely wear eyeshadow but this goes on beautifully. It has a slight glitter in two and shimmer in the other two, it goes on well and they all blend perfectly. On the back of the packaging it has a lovely little diagram to help apply, which was very handy for an eyeshadow blending (almost) virgin.

I would just like to take the time out to say a super special Happy Anniversary to Jonny, my lovely Mr, and to say a huge thank you for all the love and support you give me each and every day. Legs Eleven would not be half of what it is today without the confidence boosts you give me when i'm doubting myself. I know i tell you a lot, but when i say i love you - really do mean it! However, i don't think i tell him him even enough how much i appreciate him and everything he does for me. So i'm taking this little spot just to say a humongous THANK YOU and lots and lots of love.

A little more mush - i reached my first special check point of 10 followers this week, and have already flown to 11! I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all you lovely ladies who take the time to read and comment my posts. They never go unnoticed and i greatly, greatly appreciate them. It means a hell of a lot to me, as i'm not what i believe is a serious blogger but the support you give me is amazing, so thank you! I'm always on the look out for new blogs to follow so drop me a comment if you've got something you think i'm missing out on!

3 bloggers i have stumbled across recently, and seriously recommend, are: Leanne, Maria & Kirsty.
